brushing teeth?

anyone else's baby hating getting their teeth brushed? my son used to love it but since he got his first molars in and i gave to brush further back in his mouth he throws a fit when he sees the tooth brush! I've tried letting him doing, brushing my teeth with him, pretending like I'm tickling his teeth to make him laugh, doing it when he's distracted. nothing works! how do you all do it?!

I basically hold my daughter captive on my lap, leaned back, both hands in my left had, and brush. It’s a serious struggle twice a day, every day. I’m hoping she will grow out of hating it soon because it’s a lot of work!

So my uncle took a photo of me brushing my daughter’s teeth 😂 this is the only way I can get it done. My legs hold her arms down so there’s no chance of her pushing me away. I saw this on YouTube and gave it a try and it worked for us!

Same here! My hubby has to tip him upside down to make him laugh and then I get in there and brush away. He hates it but it’s the only way I can do it.

I hold her captive. The dentist taught me a nice move for pinning her down on the floor on her back with her arms under my legs and her head in my crotch. Lol it sounds terrible and looks awful but she mostly mellows out when I pin her like this and it works for meds too. I would say 1 in 10 times she calmly stands or sits while I brush her teeth.  (And trust me I make the biggest deal and praise her and kiss her and call her big girl when this happens). All the other times it’s a wrestling match.

yep.. my daughter use to LOVE BRUSHING up until 3 months ago, when she got her final 4 back molars. at that point, it made it very hard to brush.
she instantly starts crying and making weird noises, only when I say " it's time to brush your teeth".
however hard it may be, it only takes me about 30 seconds of actually brushing. first I do the upper sides, because our daughter hates the upper side the most. once both left and right upper teeth are brushed,  I move to the bottom teeth. she usually opens her mouth for the bottom ones, so I dont have to fight her with the brush, as she clenches down on it. 
once I'm done with the bottom teeth, I come to the front 8 teeth (top and bottom) and do those. what is harder, is making sure I get the gums too. I like to brush well and go over her gums too. that's what is annoying her the most,  especially when I go towards the back of the mouth.
but, I dont mind doing it. I've been doing this since 4 months old, when she had her first tooth. I'm use to it.  
but yes, its been getting a lot harder, especially since talks now..
I'm still getting use to get saying : " NO, no brush mommy" . first time she said that, I was both pissed AND amazed that she actually is able to talk in sentences now. and shes only 18 months. 
her dentist ( shes already seen every 6 months ), says shes got perfect teeth and gums and to keep up the good work, because healthy baby teeth pave the way to healthy gums and adult teeth in the future .
so no matter how hard it gets, remember,  you're doing this for THEM to have a healthy set of pearly whites and to pave a successful path to a healthy brush etiquette. 
we tried changing tooth paste( still using safe to swallow, no fluoride) to another different flavors, hoping she likes a flavor more than another . no luck. we tried several different brushes (hard,  soft and in the middle). no luck there either.
I just deal with the crying for 30 seconds,  twice a day and I'm good. 
also, to make it easier for me( I'm 5 foot and 95 lbs at 34 years old, with a twisted vertebrae in my back. shes almost 3 feet tall - 35 inches and 25 lbs. ), I brush her teeth in the high chair,  after her breakfast and her dinner.  if I had to chase after her to brush her teeth, it would be a nightmare.

I was having trouble too and yesterday I bought my daughter a toothbrush that vibrates an she loves it she will brush her own teeth and to my surprise shes letting me brush it too

I hold my son, like a baby, with his arms down and sing when I brush. Getting him in that position sucks, but once I start he’s ok. After I let him “brush his teeth” himself. 
I hate doing it, but it’s so so so important. He was on antibiotics right away at birth and they supposedly cause extra tarter build up for a few year (idk that’s what his dentist said). So for us it’s extra important. But his adult teeth will not be affected. 🤷🏽‍♀️

We ALSO sing the song from Dave & Ava 😂 My LG just started being okay with brushing again but she cries when I brush her newest teeth (top canines & molars especially). The dentist showed me the knee to knee hold for brushing which we tried and eventually modified... but essentially you sit knee to knee with a partner with baby facing you and their head in the partner’s lap & the partner brushes the teeth kind of upside down but you see the teeth WAY better! I was amazed! I will say if she’s overtired, it’s a disaster, so we try to do it before she’s too tired
