How did your labour start?

Question

Might be a silly question....but how did your labour start? Ir how did you know it was starting? 
I’m 40 +4 and keep having cramps and bad back ache - but then it all disappears. Just wondering how you mummies knee you were in labour?

My water broke at 2:00 am 4:18, I started having mild contractions immediately, they became increasingly painful with every one, I woke my husband at 2:30 am and we got to the hospital st 3:30 am, at this point I was in excruciating pain, was found to be almost fully dilated, started pushing at About 4:00am and my son was born at 5:32 am. This kind of fast labor is generally hereditary though, so if your mom had it, you probably will.

It started as back pain for me... it woke me up and I just thought it was from how I was sleeping but then I got another pain and a few minutes another so I decided to shower to see if that took it away and it usually helps my back but didn’t... pains got closer together and continued for a hour so then I knew it was labor

Woke up with what felt like a knife twirling around in my cervix at 2:15am Thought it was nothing because 12 hours before at my drs appt.  I was at 2cm 60% effaced and baby so high up at -3 (which I was for 4 weeks straight). Then started timing (4 min apart). Got up woke my husband up... tied to get out of bed... caught a leg cramp. It subsided and I went to the bathroom.. tmi... major diarrhea with contractions now 3 min apart. Called my mom... she said get ready for hospital... I wiped and there was my mucus plug and bloody show. Took a quick shower (I know I’m crazy for that) contractions 2-3 min apart. Got to hospital and they are drilling my in triage. I’m like I’m gonna have this baby right here. Get to delivery room with contractions coming fast and hard. Got changed got in bed few more contractions... water broke... I screamed for the doctor and an epidural. What do you know? Too late for epidural! I’m at a 10 and about 15 nurses and doctors rush in to room to prepare for delivery. My doctor never made it. Delivered baby at 4:02am after 1 push. A total labor time of 1 hour and 48 min. I was totally shocked. 
Good luck it will happen soon and in some cases (like mine) with no real warning

I had bloody show at 5am and had irregular contractions all day. I just kept busy and walked as much as I could. At about 11pm I took a hot shower and at 12am went into the hospital, I was at a 5. I had my baby girl at 5:56am.

Sharp vice-grip like pain in cervix. Came with tightening (contraction) 6 mins apart. I knew after just a couple of them- was significantly more painful than any previous cramp/braxton hicks. But the day before I had period-type cramping all day long!

mine may be completely different as I was Induced , had a sweep and put on the hormone drip , also had a epidural but felt everything from when I was 10cm but progressed from 3cm to 10 within a hour And half , for me I felt a tonne of pressure down below and as if I couldn't close my legs

I had “bloody show” in the morning and was leaking blood tinged discharge all day and cramping which continued to intensify. Still only 3cm when I got to the hospital. Good luck!
