it depends. ive eaten out with a friend and i was paying card and she was paying cash. she didnt want to wait for the change so she told me not to tip because she covered it. ive gone out to eat with groups and they tipped a different amount than i did (they were lower). its whatever to me. its not something that has to be discussed tbh.

We usually put our money together first a tip. But I did when I was dating a guy. We would go to really expensive restaurants and it was nothing for him to drop $30 on one plate of food plus appetizers and alcohol, dessert... Then he would throw $2 on the table. It pissed me off! I used to be a waitress and I know how hard they work for their money

One time I was out to eat with a ground of friends I didn’t really care for, I mean I liked them and they liked me but I was mostly there for the bride, but anyways they got upset about something the waitress did that as a prior hostess myself could tell was no fault of her own and even if it was it really wasn’t that big of a deal. She did really well for serving a group of 12, and was very sweet but also very busy. They decided to not leave her a tip and they gave a tip to another waitress who really did not deserve it at all, and I felt that was so rude so I pretended to forget my purse and ran back and left what I could which was admittedly still not much and probably perceived as insulting but I felt good that I left her something. Provided the other waitress didn’t think it was for her again.

yes I would it would be the decent thing to do but I wouldn't go out with them again.. or go to a place that doesnt tip.. not the servers fault friends are shady...
