Relationship Advice? Is this considered controlling?

My friend makes her boyfriend delete girls off of his social media. Like past people he has slept with and random girls in general. 
 I think it’s a little weird bc I mean if you can’t trust your boyfriend why are you even with him? But idk if it’s just me because I’ve never been in a relationship so I don’t really know what she’s feeling/thinking and if it’s a thing that people in relationships do?

Controlling yes but I definitely understand the feeling. I’ve never made my man do it but that doesn’t change the feeling that I feel slightly jealous when he talks to other people not only women, because I want to be talking to and with my love 24/7 lol but I control myself 😂 but unless his previous lovers have something positive and rewarding to offer him in his own self progression, I think he should understand when his current gf does not want him to have contact with his exes 🤷🏻‍♀️
