How important is eating dinner together? (When you live with your SO)

Is sitting down and eating a meal with your significant other important? Dinner time was always quality time/family time at my house growing up and my bf doesn’t feel like it matters. He’ll eat dinner before me if I get home late from work or he’ll cook me food and not eat himself if he’s not hungry.. It’s kinda disheartening tbh, but i don’t know if I’m being overly sensitive by being a bit sad over this.. 😔😕

its important in our household but now that I'm pregnant if he is going to be home past 6 or 7 I go ahead and eat but I'll sit at the table with him when he eats

My husband is the late one in our marriage. I work 630-430 and he works 330-10/1030 some nights. I’m horrible and never eat or make myself dinner. I wait for him and we’ll find something to eat together. It’s definitely nice to eat with him and I think it’s important. We may not have a nice home cooked meal prepared for that late since I never know when he’ll be out for certain, but it’s still nice to order in or pull something together quickly. I totally see where you’re coming from, I hate when he eats without me and I have to fend for myself because I refuse to cook for one person!

I’m pretty sure there’s some research out there supporting family dinners and all of their benefits. 
My husband and I always eat dinner together. He likes to watch TV during dinner and I don’t (I like the talking to each other aspect). So we’ve compromised. Weekdays are for sit down at the table dinners and weekends are for sit in front of the TV dinners.

we use to not eat together. My husband and I would grab food and watch tv while kids ate at the table. Then we moved in with my mom when she was really sick. she would get so excited about dinner all day long. what we were eating and then just talking about our days. Since then my husband and I have our household eat dinner together every night. I miss that so much with my mom now. I wish I could go back and not take it for granted now.

It depends on how late my fiancé gets home from work, sometimes he doesn’t get in until 10:30pm, but I will sit with him at the table while he eats and talk with him if he wants to talk etc. We usually give each other an hour and a half after our usual dinner time to eat without the other. he does the same for me if I work late on the days he has off. We try and keep it important to sit at the table and eat with each other.

Every night. My husband got a new job and he hasn’t been getting home until 8 but I don’t care I wait for him and my son even stays up to eat with us because he doesn’t wanna go to sleep without his dad there.
