What do you think about Bf going to movies late at night?

My Bf said he went to the movies at midnight without me when he knew I was having a crappy day. I’m not sure who he went with. But this really bothers me. We don’t live together or anything and have been together for a year. I get he doesn’t need my permission to go anywhere, but it’s not really like him to go late at night. 
How do I bring it up without sounding insecure and naggy?

I mean he will take it how he wants it. It just sounds like you're upset he didn't hang out with you when you had a crappy day. Just ask him about his night? Tell him you had a crappy day yesterday and maybe bring up how you wanted to see him. It's going to be hard bringing this up without sounding a little insecure.

I would straight up just say this to him. He needs to know that it kinda bugged you, and you want to know what was up, and if he’s okay. 
When my boyfriend and I got together, we talked about how I have anxiety. With my being cheated on in the past, and an abusive ex... things like this worry me. So we decided to share calendars, and he always gives me a heads up who he’s out with and when before hand. He knows I don’t want or need to say he can go to things. But it means a lot to me for him to just let me know what’s up. We don’t live together, but he is my everything so knowing what’s up... It seriously helps me anxiety. Especially as it never feels like something is fishy or behind my back. And if I ever do have an issue with something we have a chance to talk it out before things go down that could hurt my trust in him and our relationship. 
Maybe such a conversation and understanding could help you guys?
