“Obey” in wedding vows?

Or

Hey everyone.

So as you know, in the UK there are preparations for the royal wedding tomorrow.

On Good morning Britain, there was a debate about whether Meghan should include “obey” in her vows to Harry. It sparked a bit of controversy on social media also.

(Traditionally, the bride says obey, but the groom does not)

I personally feel neither should say it. Neither person is the other person’s property.

I just wanted to know what you all think. Married or not all opinions are welcome (:

Bonus question:

Has anyone included obey in their vows / will anyone be including obey if/when they marry?
