Should I tell my crush I'm into him?

So here's the deal. Ive been crushing on this guy on and off for three years but we always seem to go in different directions. We've never been great friends or anything but we've never not been friends either. Whenever we talk nothing ever changes, we just sorta have fun. 
As of right now I work with him at a new job and so we text sometimes, talk at work etc. Neither of us are involved in any other relationship type thing. So, should I just go for it? What do I have to loose? Does anyone have experience with this??

As a debbie downer, i have to tell you that in my experience, mixing relationships and work places doesn't end well. As my mother says, "you don't shit where you eat". Your job is important and puts food on your table. If telling this guy about your feelings doesn't go the way you plan, would it make you dread going in to work and seeing him every day? Be careful with your heart and your livelihood my friend, men make fools of the best of us.

My husband and i worked together for 3 years. Our lives were going in different directions that entire time (different relationships at different times). Finally after more than 3 years, we were both single, and I asked him when he was going to take me on a date. I told him I had always had a crush on him and he melted into a puddle and said he always had a crush on me too. We started dating, got married last year, and are expecting a baby this year. :) sometimes you have to take that move because you never know.. it could be the best thing you ever did.
