Was I out of order?

We've been talking about getting shutters for our bedroom windows for a long time now. I got someone in for pricing just out of interest. Told my other half that I had someone round to get us a quote and he's kicking off because I didn't tell him. I haven't bought anything I've simply just got pricing. There's no obligation to buy it's a quote. Is he right to kick off? When he got a credit card without telling me and couldn't keep up with the payments which I then had to help him with because it was affecting anything we'd buy he didn't clear that with me first. Drama queen.
