Which would you get??

My husband and I are moving soon and we will be down to 1 dog because my mother in law is keeping our other one to help with her older age and my fil passing away. We currently have 2 cat’s and a Great Dane. We have a large yard in our new home and plenty of space for another pet. My husband and I are both more cat people. We live our Great Dane though. She’s never not had a second dog in the home with her. Our new home is by a field though so we will probably have mice. We do like cat’s better, but I feel bad that my dog will be an only dog and won’t have a friend to play with. If it was you in my place, which would you get? A new dog, or new cat? And if dog, what size? Our Dane does get a little rough. I figured a little dog would be fast enough to out run her though and would save us money on food and stuff.
