Is she rude? Would you be alittle upset?

Question

My boyfriend cousin came from out of my country (South America) she told us that st the airport, she lost her wallet. So she had nothing on her besides her passport.  This cousin is close to my boyfriend because they grew up together & my boyfriend has good judgment. So I told my boyfriend that I will take out him and his cousin. This is her first time in the city. We went by the beach and we went to a 3-4 star restaurant (food was nasty but a little pricey) I town her she can other whatever she wanted on the Menu as her ENTREE only.  & she can order an alcoholic drink too & that I was paying. This is the first time meeting her, BTW. I then excused myself and I went to the bathroom. When I came back, I saw that we had an Appetizer. My bf said she ordered it. Alittle confused but I didn’t mention anything. Anyways, the bill came and I took it and saw it was $18.99 for the appetizer. Now, money isn’t an option so don’t get me wrong, I don’t care that she ordered it because of the price. what I found weird about it was that I specifically told them what they can order before I left to the bathroom but she decided to add In an extra order while I was gone. Of course, I paid for the whole bill. I think it’s the principle of it besides the actual cost. What do you think? Am I being unreasonable & over thinking???

It was very nice of you to pay for everyone’s meal. Personally when someone offers to pay for me I try not to go with expensive options because i don’t want to seem like I’m taking advantage of the person or situation. Not everyone is like this though. Sounds like she may have taken advantage of the situation but you also can’t be mad when you encouraged her to get whatever she wanted. I would take this whole thing as a lesson learned and next time don’t offer to pay for the meal or offer but don’t encourage her or whomever to get whatever they want.

You DID say order anything you want but it sounds like she doesn’t quite understand social norms where if someone said that you’d still probably order cheaper items and nothing really expensive. But I would be annoyed too.

I dont think shes a little kid. If you take someone out to eat and youre covering the bill youre agreeing to pay for what they eat. She may not understand the prices at all. To me the way youre reacting is rude. You said whatever you want and then tried to stipulate it. Why? Oh you can have whatever you want but theres a limit and now Im going to have a problem because I agreed to pay for your food.Like what?

You’re not being unreasonable; however, I understand your plight because I’ve been in something similar. 
I understand she lost her purse (did she report it to the authorities?) but that would be the last I paid for her food; maybe you should’ve said what the limit was and was clear about it before leaving... 🤷🏾‍♀️
