so, women are always targeted for the dress code rules in public schools, and I wanted to know if you think that they should be enforced.  tell us about any weird or outrageous dress codes at your school, and what you thought about the rules.

I think they should be equally enforced. All too often at my school Caucasian girls would have half their ass cheeks out and go through the whole day unbothered, while African American girls would be wearing the same thing and get sent home or told to change. Just because we have different bodies doesn't make it more or less appropriate. Not saying they shouldn't have been called out but call out EVERYONE. Also there was the thing about shoulders and really was just dumb as hell

I don’t like how at my school girls can’t wear tank tops but boys can wear muscle shirts cut down the side it’s not really fair that we can’t show our shoulders but they can but their nips on display

How many professions have a dress code? Most of them! I don’t think schools should be any different. Students need to understand that certain different clothes are considered acceptable in different environments.

The only reason I voted yes is because I’ve seen young ladies wear very provocative clothing to public schools (I mean half the ass showing, bellies exposed and ten inches of cleavage showing). School is a place to learn, not a place to expose yourself. I understand dressing however someone would want, but do it somewhere other than school.

My little sister is 8 in 1st grade. She is not allowed to wear tank tops (shirts that dont have full sleaves to cover all of your shoulders) at her school... If the sleaves are not at least 3 inches wide she cannot wear it. Which I think is pretty ridiculous because it just feels like little girls are being sexualized. I mean really, what 7/8 year old boy is going to be too distracted staring at my little sisters shoulders all day that they cannot focus on their school work? Why else could this possibly even be an issue?! I dont get it. And it pisses me off because she has so many cute tank tops!!!

I always think if my parents think my outfits okay then why would teachers at school have to dress code me about it? My mom/dad said it’s ok so why would a teacher pull me from the class to tell me I need to change? Like srsly it’s either I got to school and your dress coding me and calling my mom or I’ve been at school for almost 2-3 hours and then I hear a complaint about “your shorts are too short or I can see your stomach”

I think everyone should dress respectfully to yourself and others. If you are out in public  your cheeks,  boobs shouldn't be showing. A little cleavage, ok... We all want to feel a little sexy but not if you going in public with children. We live in a terrible world, with terrible pervs! We shouldnt let our young kids dress inappropriately. So I think a strict dress code should be enforced!

I think dress codes are good to an extent but I think they should be consistent. I’ve seen so many girls get my with wearing things that aren’t following the code but then seen others get in trouble. If you’re going to punish someone. Punish everyone if they do it too. And the whole no shoulder thing is dumb. Like, my shoulders are far enough away from my boobs that it shouldn’t cause any problems🤷‍♀️
