Maybe someone can give me another perspective, because this is really eating me up. My son is 21 months and I'm due to give birth on June 14th. I'm happily married, we have a great life, financially secure. No one in our life is as excited as they were with my son, and it really hurts,but specifically my MIL. By this time with my son, she had bought him loads of stuff (clothes and toys), thrown me a baby shower with 50+ people, and constantly asked about his appts, etc. (admittedly that part got old). This go around, though, she has not gotten ONE thing for my daughter. Doesn't ask, no shower, nothing. She comes over once a week and regularly brings a toy for my son. Nothing for the baby. We don't need her to purchase anything, but I know it makes her feel good... However, I feel if she does, it needs to be equal to both children. I think it's because she had two sons, no daughters, so she is tending to favor a boy. She's also SUPER overbearing with my son, to the point she refuses to out him down when she visits. He allows it, so I just seeth quietly until she leaves. Am I overreacting? Is there another perspective I can look at?
