Feeling beautiful 💕
I posted something almost a week ago talking about my weight loss and the way I perceive my own body. I’ve lost a total of 40 lbs but still feel down about my body most days because I’m naturally curvy and struggle with bloating from IBS. Mostly the negative thoughts stem from struggling with my weight for so long.
I decided to write in a journal everyday to work on being body positive and remind myself everyday why I’m beautiful inside and out. So far the journaling has been working! Everyday this past week I find my mental state really uplifting!
I even notice that I choose healthier things to eat, am more positive in conversation, and have more energy to do things because my mood is better.
Journaling has been working for me and if anyone has any self doubt I suggest giving it a try! Especially because it can feel uncomfortable to talk to others about your own body and mental state... writing it down can be a nice private place to let things out and move on with your day. I started out by writing down the negative thoughts, and then taking a look at them to find a way to see them as positives or ways to improve on them that day. Then I follow with positives about myself and my life and what I look forward to the next day. Really just taking everything one day at a time.
For example.. today I woke up bloated and having cramps, dreading wearing my bathing suit. But then I realized the bloating and cramps are only temporary, and I have killer curves in my bathing suit! I chose food for lunch that wouldn’t worsen my bloating and then had an awesome day swimming with my family because I felt confident and comfortable in the way I look.
I also look at my before and after pictures to remind myself at how far I have come. And damn it feels good 💕💕
