Baby cries at night

My 16month old sees my in laws when they feel like coming to visit or when we visit them. They live literally 5min away and barely come visit the baby. They expect us to always go to them. I notice lately when we go visit for awhile. When bring baby home and get her ready for bed she will fall asleep fine but wakes up all hours of the night screaming her head off. This only happens when we come back from the day of visiting the in laws. I thought at first couple of times they must of given her too much snacks. But we informed them not to give her any food unless they asked first. Well lastnight it happened again. She woke up several times screaming and crying. Not sure what the problem is.
