Breastfeeding in public ?

Question

How do you feel about breastfeeding in public ? With a cover or without? Sometimes it’s not easy and sometimes it’s not the ideal area. 
Are we allowed to nurse are babies in public as we please? I’m scared to try because I feel like I will be kicked out of whatever place I’m at but if I take my baby out with me he needs to eat and I don’t always have a bottle.

I feed my baby everywhere and do not use a cover. She hated it the one time I tried to cover her. I breastfed her openly. I feel like the more people see it the more “normal” it will be!  Even on the beach in a carrier! Haha

You can nurse wherever you need to. I’m personally more comfortable nursing without a cover in public than if I was sitting in a room with my in laws or something because you are never going to see any of those people again anyways!

As others have said you’re allowed to breastfeed in public, a right protected by law.
Personally I’m not comfortable being uncovered but my son hates being covered, and really won’t eat if he’s covered up, just starts screaming. I try to have bottles for him when we go out.  But if I don’t and he starts showing signs of hunger, I’ve noticed my maternal instincts kick in and I’m more concerned with getting him fed than what people might think. I do try to be subtle and cover up as much as possible once he’s latched. Sure some people stare, or more often awkwardly look away and keep glancing back, but that’s really their problem. We’re feeding our children, it’s a perfectly natural, healthy thing! 🙂

I nurse wherever and whenever baby wants absolutely no covers. My experience is that people  is way more annoyed by a screaming baby than me nursing. So yesterday I nursed at my dentist and at a cafeteria during lunchtime for most people.

Breastfeeding is protected by law. I've always nursed in public. I'm not ashamed by actually doing it, but I don't want to be exposed either. It's a personal insecurity that I have even though I would never judge another mom for nursing without a cover. Both of my babies despised being covered, so I always use a burp rag or my shirt or jacket (if it's possible, depending on the cut) to basically cover the top of my breast. just covered enough to reach  the top of my LOs upper lip if that makes sense. I've always been told that they can't tell that I'm nursing unless I tell them I am (by family and friends). it's worked well for me and my two kids during my 3 years of breastfeeding, but you have to do what works for you and your LO

I was afraid of that as well. But when a boob is all you got and a screaming baby you do what you need to do. I don’t cover up at home but I do in public. Do what makes you comfortable because then baby will be comfortable too.

You can nurse any where you will have some ppl that may look at you and give you nasty looks etc but you
Know what dont let it bother you ... i cover in certain areas to make others feel comfortable but i wont cover other wise ... be proud of it

You can breastfeed wherever you please. Covered or not! I never used a cover because my baby would just push it off, but I’d put her underneath my shirt and cover up with my top as much as possible. Now that she’s 13 months I don’t breastfeed in public because she doesn’t NEED to nurse right then and there, But when a newborn/baby wants boob, the baby gets boob!!
