Good idea?

Question

So, quite a few of my husband and I’s family members are extremely over bearing and just don’t care about what how we feel. 
Because of this, I’ve decided that I’m going to have a list of ground rules for when our daughter arrives in October and send it out a few weeks before she’s due. 
Basically, if they don’t like/agree with the rules then they can’t come see her. I’m just doing this so I can keep peace at mind while trying to adjust to life with a baby.

I’ll probably have a few rules with my in-laws but I’ve never had an issue with my parents being too overbearing. If my husband needs to set boundaries with my family though of course I will support that.
The main rule for right now is to not politicize my pregnancy or my daughter. They’re very conservative (and not that it really matters, but white) and I’m very liberal (and black as hell) and the comments I’ve already received are so gross. I don’t want my daughter around that. 🤷🏽‍♀️ lets see your rules when you make them!

Same with my fam and you honestly should.. or else they’re going to do exactly what you dont want them to do trust me lol and it just causes frustration and bad annoying vibes

Great idea! It's important for your self esteem as well. I struggle with family like that, and they can make me feel sooo small and invalidated. It's like they don't trust me, it's like I'm 5 years old. But truth is, they don't trust themselves and project it onto anyone who seems like an easy target 😑 boundaries are great in my opinion, no matter how harsh.
