Is hiring a doula worth it?

Hi all, just wondering what u think of hiring a doula? How did u all cope after birth delivery? Did u get any help from anyone? My husband will only get 2-3 weeks paternity leave.

I had my husband and a doula. we are repeating this for the second birth. my husband is amazing emotional support but it was excellent to have someone there with me the whole time who had experience with childbirth and had a lot of techniques for how to make contractions more comfortable. 
we also had her come after a few times to make food and tidy the house. well worth it for us

My momma did doula training, and it’s been awesome so far! She’s so helpful. I probably wouldn’t hire a stranger if your spouse or a family member was willing to do it, but you know your relationship with your support structure best.

my husband is going to be my doula lol i heard its better when your spouse is there instead of a stranger but everyone is different so idk it depends on you and how comfortable you are with a stranger being there in your delivery room just do whatever relaxes you during labor😊

It depends.....my ex husband was not at all helpful in that regard so for my second labor I did. This time around I just want hubby and I in the room.

I wish I did. My labor was great and went as planned (natural, handsoff) but then my baby had meconium in her lungs and I had a retained placenta; it would have been nice to have someone there to explain what was happening but I ended up just sitting in a hospital bed for hours on iv drips alone because I wanted my husband to be with the baby in the NICU .
