Mucus Plug? 38 weeks and 5 days

I’m 38 weeks and 5 days. I’ve been having contractions for 3 days now. Last night they became a little more painful and this morning too. They were like 10, 7, 5, 9, 6 minutes apart. When I went to the restroom and wiped this came out. I contacted my doctor and he said it was normal, that I have to wait until my contractions are 5 minutes apart constantly. But this is not a little piece of blood. My doctor haven’t seen the picture.
