Fetal echo?

Had my 20 week appt today. Everything looked well except baby girl was not cooperating with sonogram. The few pics they got of the heart it was hard to see. The dr suggested getting a fetal echo to see if the baby has ventricular septal defect. She reassured us that most of the time it resolves itself within pregnancy. Has this happened to anyone else? First time momma here at 33 so not sure if I should be freaking out yet or not!

My daughter had a hole and it healed by the time she was born at 37 weeks the listener and believe 100% it is healed I have a sweet beautiful healthy 1 1/2 year old

Just went through this myself. As in, had a fetal echo yesterday. 26w 4d. My baby girl does have a hole in her heart. Doctor says it should close on it's own, possibly before birth, possibly take a few years. It's small enough that baby girl will get an echo after birth and at a year old. It shouldn't slow my baby girl down at all, no special requirements or treatment.
I also have a friend who's daughter is now 2. Her vsd was bigger and required a surgical patch after birth. They went in through a vein in her leg and patched it. No big surgical scar. She is a happy, healthy 2 year old with no issues.
It was one of the scariest things to hear, especially since it was already my doctor of maternal and fetal medicine that originally found the hole. Being sent to a specialist, by a specialist was terrifying. You're not alone, and you're in the best hands finding it now. Just breathe.
