I'm white and my hubby is african therefore obviously my mother inlaw is african and a very proud one she says but.... today she came from shopping with her daughter and walks into the house and i asked "oh you guys where fast, how was shopping?" which my sister inlaw says "it was nice" but my mother inlaw didnt hear anything apparently and says to me after her daughter left.  MOTHER INLAW: - "luisa , why dont you say anything when i walked in?  ME:- i did i asked how was shopping  MOTHER INLAW:- no you didn't, you are very stubborn and dont take corrections, you behave like a white woman that refuses to take corections from a black woman, like who are you to listen to me a old black woman(meanwhile sarcastically imitating me walking around the house like a spoiled girl) ME:- sorry " i was very hurt as i'm married to the love  of my life and it happens that he is black and we have 2 girls togheter ...why would she use the colour of the skin against me?

3.MIL needs to understand that race shouldn't be the answer to everything like so many people try to make it be.

Honestly, she sound like a typical mother in law. She's probably used to the color of her skin or others creating issues in her life. That's just the shitty shit world we live in. I'd let it go. Maybe you don't directly speak to her often, and just don't realize it.

It's common for black elders to be greeted when the walk in the room or when you walk in the room. She has her costumes and you have yours.

I’m sure it’s a much deeper issue that has to do with her past and her experiences. It’s something she has to heal from and unfortunately anything you say can just make matters worse. 
In the meantime, keep being positive, you have two daughters, be the good example for them. It won’t be easy if your MIL continues acting this way but you be the bigger person. Also feel free to let your husband know what’s going on so that you don’t feel too alone in this.

Some people make everything about race, and forget that sometimes they're just wrong. 🙄Sounds like she's bitter. She's probably had some bad experiences with white people, and it's affecting how she sees the race as a whole.
