Doppler?

Question

I know someone who has a $300 doppler. But after 3 MCs I don't blame her. Someone else suggested it is worth it but said don't bother with an expensive one and just go cheap. But my husband used to be in medicine so we still have at least one stethescope kicking around which works at 18 weeks. I'll be 9 weeks on Saturday assuming all is well.

Curious what others think. Is it even worth it or should I just be patient??

You can get a good Doppler on amazon for like $25 it’s the same one a lot of doctors use. If you type it in it’s the first one that pops up hat says Amazon’s favorite or something like that. Mine works amazing I found my baby heartbeat pretty easily around 10 weeks.

you'll just stress yourself out with a doppler. three baby is so small they can just move away and you'll freak out. ok be they're big enough for the stethoscope to work, they're much mire reliable. and some babies react negatively to ultrasound waves, which dopplers use

I got one for $50 on amazon.  Worked really well.  I haven't used it in a few months because once he started kicking, I had that reassurance.

I bought my Doppler off of the aliexpress app for $25 & I have been able to find my baby’s heart rate since 10W. Just this past Monday at my doctors appointment once again she was trying to use the Doppler to get the baby’s heart rate & she was moving all over & I said I tend to find her on my bottom left just above my pubic bone & she put it there & bingo she found it right away. She even commented I must have a better one than the doctors office has & I told her no way cause mine is a plastic cheap piece of equipment. So I would suggest checking that app because if my doctor said that then it must be doing a pretty good job for being a cheap one.

I had two miscarriages last year and then had bleeding with my current pregnancy from 6-17 weeks on and off.. we got a doppler because it gave us peace of mind when I had bleeding. The doctors did tell us it was from a subchoronic hemorrhage so we knew why I was bleeding but didn’t want to rush to the ER all the time for checks.
We bought this one, it was around $40 on Amazon. It worked just fine from around 10 weeks on. Sometimes it just took a minute longer to find baby in the earlier weeks, but not a big deal.. I would never spend $300. Once the bleeding stopped we started using it a little less, and now that baby is kicking (I am currently 24 weeks) I haven’t had a ‘need’ to use it.. we took it out a few nights ago because our daughter wanted to listen so now it is more a novelty for us then what it originally was.

Get a $30 one on amazon if you need the reassurance but otherwise don’t bother. Definitely wouldn’t spend $300

Have you read what the FDA has to say about dopplers?  They are NOT recommended for home use. Please make sure you are fully informed on the risks to the fetus!!

My doctor couldn’t even find my son’s HB at 11 weeks. He even had his student try first, then he tried to come to the rescue and find it, then he called in a colleague, and finally I was sent for an US and it was flickering away. Same thing at 16 weeks. My doctor couldn’t believe it was so tricky.

I got mine from Amazon for about $40 and it is absolutely fantastic I was able to find the heartbeat at about 13 weeks! Now that he moves around a lot though I don't really use it anymore. So for me there is zero reason to spend a ton of money on one because you only use it for a couple of months typically anyway 🤷
