Why no sex after egg retrieval?

Hey there. I’m wondering why the clinic said no sex after retrieval for 2 weeks? We are doing a frozen transfer and I have no tubes so there is no chance of getting pregnant. Thanks in advance!

Because your ovaries are still enlarged from stims, and you have punctures from retrieval.  It’s precaution to avoid infection or damage to your ovaries.

Your ovaries are enlarged and can be easily injured/twisted. Also they go through your vaginal wall and you need time to heal up and you are more prone to infection due to this.

Hi there. I’m a nurse and Also on first ivf. No sex because of risk of infection. There are one or two open wounds inside your vagina that need to heal before introducing any new bacteria. It’s not just sex, it’s any insertion. No tampons or toys for two weeks and spotting has stopped. I haven’t had FET yet so not sure if there are restrictions post FET, I wouldn’t expect so bc it is same procedure as IUI   It’s only after retrieval that you can’t have sex
