Can your baby get into a sitting position by themselves?

My little girl cannot get into a sitting position by herself. Once I put her in the seated position she’s as happy as can be and can support herself but if she falls forward or backward she can’t sit up. Is this normal for 8 month old? (I’m a FTM)

Babies all take their time and go at their own pace. My daughter (2 yrs now) didn’t sit well til nearly 9 months. Didn’t crawl til 9-10 months. Didn’t walk til 15 months. My son (8.5 mos old) sat at 6 mos. has been trying to crawl for several weeks now. And prob will walk before my daughter did. Each child is unique just like each adult. Don’t stress the “milestones” and just enjoy the day to day.

give her time my oldest sat up on her own at 7 months my baby just now accomplished it. They have done things at a different pace. my baby is not crawling but she is starting to stand. and my oldest did crawl .

Mine just started sitting herself up last week. Your baby will get the hang of it, trust me lol. I had to basically bait mine with toys she wanted for her to do it 😂
