Air conditioning? Children?

I saw an article about a grandmother that had 0ut her grandchildren in a dog kennel in the back of the SUV with no air conditioning and drove to the city and back. She was arrested for child abuse. But it lead me think....
Is it child abuse to drive with your baby or small child in a car with no AC? Obviously the dog cages really is what makes this story crazy but they really made it clear it was the length the babes where in the car and the heat is what they where most upset about. What is your take?

Well there are windows, not like you have to keep them up sitting in and increasingly warming car ,nor do I think parents that don’t have air conditioning in their car want to hurt or make their child uncomfortable in any way.

No. Cars have windows. Not everyone can afford a new car, so that would mean everyone with an older car without AC would automatically be guilty of child abuse.

No it’s not abuse to drive your kids in a car without air conditioning. If it got too hot in the car, there’s windows. I think they are pointing out that there wasn’t any air conditioning in this situation because not only were they locked up in a cage but the grandmother didn’t even care if they got to hot or couldn’t breathe. Making it clear that it’s child abuse

If the windows work, no. Airflow would keep it cool enough. If they don’t work, and the children are just forced to deal with the heat, then yes. There are a lot of risks from being in a hot car, especially for more than a couple minutes.

I dont think ac matters just the overall temperature. Hot and sticky is uncomfortable but if it's a safe temp, that's your choice.

Some people don’t have AC in their car. I’m assuming you live in a very hot place. Although I have AC I know many people that don’t. You can provide a cool comfortable car ride for your child without AC.

I live in Houston - opening windows is like having a 100 hairdryers blow drying your face all at one. For places like this- you should not drive with children without ac. Overheating is serious.

ok taking the kennel out of the situation. no ac in car child abuse? No. cars have windows. 
I know it sucks when the AC is broken but sometimes things happen. 
and we all know leaving a child (or dog) in a hot car alone is a no no
