Biracial Child

Danielle

My 3 year old daughter recently starting asking me why she is darker then I am and she also has been sayin “mommy I don’t want to be brown” it breaks my heart for her at the age of 3 to say that. I remind her every day that she is beautiful despite any color she is. I wrote my daughter this simple note that I plan on printing out for her to read as she gets older .

To my beautiful biracial child , You don’t see it now, because you don’t see color. But someday you will. Someday you will look around at the kids in your class and your friends at church, and you will realize that you don’t look like them. Your skin color is a little bit lighter than the girl standing to your right, and a little bit darker than the boy sitting to your left And that might make you mad. It might make you sad. It might make you feel like you don’t belong, I want to tell you something you are the most beautiful child in this world and if there’s one gift I can give you, one nugget I can leave you with, it’s this , You are valued and you are loved. And this has nothing to do with the color of your skin, but everything to do with your stamp of humanity. I want to see you shine and do great things in the world never let anyone tell you different much love from your mom 💕😘
