Husbands gender disappointment
My DH and I have a daughter. We just found out we’re having a boy! Yes I initially was a bit gutted, but now I’m just so excited! We get to have one of each! & I was much closer with my baby brother growing up than my sister.
However he loves being a girl dad. He is sooo nervous about a boy. He keeps saying ‘make sure to get neutral clothing because it can always end up being a girl!’ He’s having difficulty looking at boy names, not liking any. I’m just worried. I know that once this baby is here everything will fall into place for him. He’s just worried because he is a cliche gamer/software engineer who is extra nerdy. He never really had a ton of guy friends and didn’t do much of the traditional ‘boy’ stuff. But I keep reminding him just because this is a boy, doesn’t mean this baby will be into cliche boy things necessarily. Our daughter is very much into dinosaurs, pirates, and of course cliche girl things. Shes just loving all sorts of stuff just like I’m sure this LO will too.
Any advice? Has someone gone through something similar? Is there something I can do for him?
***I just want to add that with our daughter he was very involved in that pregnancy. Went to every appointment (he goes to the big ones for this one) bought this for our daughter on his own, had a list of names, everything. So it’s just a little hard right now. 😞
