Ladies… You can still get herpes in the genital area from HSV-1. It is not as common, but it can happen! You do not even have to have a cold sore to spread it that way… All that needs to happen is for there to be a tiny open cut, like razor burn and your partner be shedding the virus. So be aware ladies! Reoccurring episodes of hsv1 in the genital area are less likely unless with direct contact. Many people don’t even recognize the episodes as Herpes because the outbreaks are usually very mild and maybe confused with a yeast infection or other condition.
Additionally, what Courtney said is true! You can have the virus for years without even being symptomatic. You can unknowingly pass this virus and you can also unknowingly have this virus. So technically, if you get it while you’re in a relationship, you won’t even know if it’s from your partner or if you’ve had all along.

Most people gave the cold sore virus. If there was constant outbreaks, I’d talk to them about getting on some valtrex or something.

I've been with my husband for seven years. If he randomly told me now that he had herpes, it either means he cheated or just waited seven years to tell me. Either way, I would not stay.

They say it can take up to 10 years for symptoms to appear. Someone could have herpes way before they met their significant other and never have any indication.

Simplex 1, I wouldn’t care. Most of the population has it. If I don’t already carry the virus, while I’d prefer to never get it, I wouldn’t completely freak out if I got it. 
Simplex 2, I would care. How much I care/am concerned about it would likely depend on when they contracted it and that would affect whether I’d stay with them. If they contracted it before we got together, then I’d probably stay with them. If they contracted it after we got together…then I have a lot of questions and we might be over.

80% of the population has oral herpes and may never experience an outbreak.
I have it and had a couple cold sores in high school and had never been kissed, let alone had sex.
My husband has it too and is currently going through an outbreak. Just means no kisses for a few days!
