Should I respect his wishes or is he being controlling?

My boyfriend doesn’t like me texting or answering people’s phone calls/texts when I’m with him. He doesn’t mind if it’s an urgent call like my mom or any family member but he doesn’t like when I’m answering friend’s texts or calls. He doesn’t ask who I’m talking to or doesn’t care if I’m home but he specifically doesn’t want me texting/calling when I’m with him. I assume it’s because he wants me to pay attention to him & enjoy time with him ? Lol Idk
