Starting birth control pill after plan b?

So I took plan b about 2 1/2 weeks ago and have been experiencing sporadic spotting ever since. To avoid ever having to take plan b ever again, I made an appointment with my gyn to get on some birth control pills. My concern is will the birth control help to stop the spotting or just make it worse? 
Has anyone started birth control pills after plan b? Where there any strange side effects?

Once you start the birth control pills you’ll probably stop spotting (depends on the amount of estrogen in your pill but if it’s just a regular pill, the spotting should stop). Your next period will be when you get done with your pack of bc pills.

Any update? I’m on the same boat. Got my period after taking plan b and wanting to start my birth control. Did you end up doing this? What happened? Spotting?
