birth control?

so, i get the prescriptions for the patch in May, and wanted to start on a Sunday.

i started the patch 06/03, everything was fine, i was feeling great, and had energy! well, lo and behold i get so sick at 03:00, quarter to 4am. throwing up, nauseated and sore! i was confused as to what was wrong. so, i tell my mom about it. she tells me to take the patch off. nothing happens for a long time. we go to the hospital and they do a CT. it shows that an ovarian cyst has ruptured and the contents of the cyst are in my body now.

the patch gave me soooo much hormone that it made a cyst rupture. i go to another fertility app and ask, what's the difference between the patch and the pill. someone told me that the patch is a higher dose of the hormone and the pill is a lower dose. i saw my doctor yesterday and she gave me a pill, Loestrin(?). does a lower dose protect the same as the patch? is there more coverage?
