Can a woman be successful without wearing make up?

I was watching a tv show and two women were having a debate. What one of the women said really got me baffled so I wanted to share to see everyone’s opinions.

One woman was for makeup, and said wearing make up shows that you care about how you look and you take care of yourself and your presentation which is what companies look for in their employees. She runs her own business and said that she wouldn’t hire someone who doesn’t wear make up because that means ‘they don’t care enough about themselves’ therefore wouldn’t care about their job. (This right here is what got me F’d up.) she even questioned the other woman, “would you honestly walk into an interview with someone who is ridiculously high up in a company without a full face of make up on?” I was so confused, like why tf wouldn’t she? What is wrong with that?

The other woman was against make up saying she doesn’t wear make up ever. She said it’s perfectly fine for women to wear make up if it gives them more confidence and they just enjoy wearing it etc, But it’s ridiculous that women feel like they need make up, can’t even leave the house without it and feel disadvantaged professionally just because they choose not to wear it. Going on to say it’s really shallow of her to say she wouldn’t respect a woman’s professionalism just because she hasn’t got abit of foundation on her face, what difference does it make? And that she would rather be judged by her personality and her professionalism.

I do wear make up, I don’t leave the house without it because I just feel so much more confident with it on. But I completely agree with the second woman and disagree that women can’t be successful and should be rejected when it comes to jobs just because they don’t wear make up. I think it’s absolutely absurd that she said if a woman doesn’t wear make up she doesn’t care about herself or her job. So if a woman prefers to rock her natural beauty she doesn’t care about herself and her wellbeing? WHAT?!! That’s crazy and completely doesn’t make sense to me. When at home I don’t usually wear make up, I really do not think that if I went to a job interview looking how I look on one of my make up free days, that I would be rejected just based on the fact that I haven’t got make up on.
