Pumping before birth?

Out of curiosity and boredom, I decided to test out my pump (also seeing if it gets labor to kick in, I’m 39+5). I only intended to play around not expecting much but after 10 mins on each side I have more than a 1/2 ounce of Colostrum. Any one else have luck with Antenatal pumping?

I did it with my second baby I’m an attempt to “toughen” my nipples a little to see if it helped make breastfeeding less painful in the beginning, and it worked! I barely had any discomfort!

Can I ask a potentially stupid but totally judgement-free question? Don’t babies need the colostrum we make before our milk comes in? I thought the reason we produced it was to give them immediate intense nutrition but i have no idea if that’s true or necessary🤔

Wow! That's impressive! I tried pumping last night and this morning for 15 minutes and only got a few drops. I'm 37 weeks and 3 days and this is my 4th pregnancy.

I’ve also been pumping since about 38w5d, sometimes gives me contractions, nothing fierce at this point, but maybe once my cervix is more ripe it will help. Both boobs combined, about 5-10 min each, I can get a total of 1.5 ounces of colostrum. I don’t save it every time, but I’ve got some saved for right away after birth if for some reason I’m not able to be with my babe right away.
