Coloring hair: is it safe?

Didn’t even think about this until I read a post on another site asking this. Is it safe to color your hair while your pregnant? I’m a little over 5 weeks pregnant and I’m scheduled to get my hair colored on 7/16. I get highlights and my roots touched up.

It’s recommended that you wait until you’re out of your first trimester. I waited until I was 21 weeks.

My OB told me wait until after my first trimester and my hair lady also told me she refuses to do anything on anyone until they are out of their first trimester (if she knows about it). My hair lady said highlights are safer and when she does do them she makes sure to not get them too close to the scalp tho to be precautionary, be she never wants to be the reason something goes wrong.

I actually just talked to my OB’s nurse and she said it was safe during the first trimester
