Fitness Progress

It all started for me with a mindset change. One day, around New Years of 2018 I decided, “This is who I am and I’m going to love me and do things to make myself feel good.” When I dug deeper I figured out I felt the best when I was eating healthy foods and moving my body a few times a week. Started going to the gym five days a week, just for 30-45 minutes on the elliptical. Then that got too easy, so I decided to start training over the summer for a 10k that I’ll be running in August. Also trying out new fitness classes every chance I get. I don’t weigh myself regularly or take measurements, because I know that’d discourage me, instead I just take photos and notice how my clothes fit. I’m just trying my best day by day and trusting the process. I still eat ice cream, I still spend whole Sundays on the couch when I shouldn’t, and pizza is still my favorite food, but I always strive to make the healthy choice 9 times out of 10.

My two main mantras are the best pieces of wellness advice I could give to anyone:

“Don’t workout because you hate your body, workout because you love your body.” and “It’s okay to fail, it’s not okay to quit.”
