Second trimester spotting - long post
Hi wonderful ladies!
I have been spotting on and off throughout my whole pregnancy (now 18 weeks and some change). At first it would be once a week, but as I got into week 16+ it now seems like everyday to every other day. Sometimes pink, sometimes red. No cramping or anything in my underwear.
I had my anatomy scan yesterday and they noted I had a subchorionic hematoma and an anterior placenta. I think that’s what it’s called. I asked my doctor and told her I was concerned, stressed, and so worried. She said basically it’s like a flap of skin and when it moves it releases yucky blood. But it is on the other side of my placenta from where our sweet baby girl is getting nutrients and she was not concerned. She noted I might spot my whole pregnancy as the worst case scenario or that it might clear up. No sex, heavy lifting, or extreme exercise. But baby girl is growing perfectly and I hear her heartbeat morning and night when I check it because I’m always worried!
My doctor is so great and always reassuring, but this first time momma is still worried. I don’t know if i should be excited about my pregnancy because I am afraid of losing it. My husband and I want to share our exciting news that we are expecting, but I am hesitant.
Has anyone else experienced this or can relate?
Sorry for the long post! 💕
