MIL Rant

A little background: my husband’s mother used to live 1000 miles away since he was 12 years old so they’ve never been too terribly close other than phone calls every few weeks. She moved 20 minutes away over a year ago and still blows my husband off and ignores him for weeks at a time, unless she needs him to do something around the house which she expects him to take off work for- like mowing the lawn when his unemployed 21 year old brother can do it. She didn’t come to our wedding last summer and didn’t even have the decency to tell him that herself, his grand parents, aunt, and brother weren’t coming because they were “sick”. She’s been on my shitlist ever since but luckily she blows us off anyway so I don’t really have to deal with her. I stayed home while hubby went to Christmas dinner this past winter because I was “sick”. 🤪 But, after she blew us off for MONTHS when we tried to tell her I was pregnant, it took us showing up unannounced at midnight to get her to finally listen because I was tired of not being able to announce my pregnancy at 18 weeks along.

It’s always frustrating because she ignores my husband and as a first time mom it blows my mind that someone can treat their son that way, let alone the man that I adore. She sends these long ass texts every few months detailing how much she loves him but when it comes to him sending her ultrasound pictures, she can’t be bothered to answer. When I was admitted for week long hospital stays she couldn’t even be bothered to call her son back, let alone stop by for a visit.

WELL, my baby shower is coming up and one of my husband’s aunts RSVPd yesterday and I could not believe my MIL’s comment on the post. I hope you Mommas can understand my frustration.

OUR SPECIAL DAY?!? “OUR” SPECIAL DAY!? FORREAL? Did she help us make this baby? 🤔 Is she helping me carry this baby? 🤔 Has she been supportive in the slightest the last 6 months? 🤔 “Our” special damn day; I could not believe my eyes. Our special day, wtf. I’m clearly still pretty peeved over her wording choice. 🙄😂
