So my bf of 8 months is in the air force and he has hinted at popping the question soon. He is probably going to be restationed within the next year or two and he wants me to move with him. so I guess I'm trying to see what are others experience.

My husband and I kmew each other since high school(5-6 years ago), however we were together for maybe a month before he proposed, we were married after three months of being together. We’ve been married now for about a year and a half and just had our little guy July 4th ☺️ For some people such a short courtship works, others it doesn’t. Marriage isn’t rainbows and butterflies, it’s hard work and dedication. It’s not 50/50, it’s 100/100. You put in your all and so does your SO.

My husband and I knew each other for almost 4 years when we got engaged, but had only been dating for about 6 months. It comes down to how well you know one another, and specifically how confident you are in their moral character. I don’t think it’s crazy at all to get engaged just a few months into dating, as long as your relationship has been very purposeful, and you truly know one another. Not just in a “what’s their favorite color and how do they spend their time” sort of way, but a “what do they want out of life/how would they raise children (do they want any?)/what guides their moral compass/etc.” sort of way. Make sure you know the important stuff BEFORE you make a commitment that is supposed to be life-long. With the military life, more than any other I know of, there is so much out of your control, and so much time you will have to spend apart from each other. If you aren’t purposeful in knowing one another before you are married, it will make it that much harder to be purposeful once you are. I guess what I’m saying is that it is less about how long you have dated or known someone, it is about the depth to which you know, trust, and love them.
