uncomfortable with party

Hey yall! so just wanted some insight on proper baby shower etiquette. my mom just informed me that she was planning a baby shower and has invited a bunch of family and friends. it sounded fun and I was all for it!...that was until she sat me down and told me to make a list of everything people needed to buy me and what I wanted them to bring. it seems like a very straightforward thing to do and I'm not completely comfortable with asking family and friends for gifts so directly. I've been stressing over this trying to figure out how not to come off as rude. I was hoping to have a cake and maybe play some games just to celebrate this new life, not pressure people into providing things that are my responsibility to have in the first place. help!
