What to expect at first appointment?

Hi everyone! This is my first pregnancy and I have my first appointment with my midwife tomorrow morning. I'll be 8w3d according to LMP. What should I expect at my first appointment? I'm assuming they'll do an ultrasound as well as urine and blood tests. I just had a PAP in January so I'm assuming they won't need to do one again? Anything else I should be prepared for? Thanks!

I think it varies depending on where you’re from. I’m Irish and we don’t have our first appointment with our midwife until 12-16 weeks. At it they take full medical history of both parents and both families; take your height/weight; check your blood pressure; check your urine; do a dating scan and take a full set of bloods.

It can vary depending on your doctor, but my first appointment they did a urine test and a transvaginal ultrasound to confirm how far along I was and make sure everything looked good. They also booked some future appointments and assigned me a doctor (I told them to pick one for me). I didn't have any blood tests until further along, and it was just to check that all my vitamin levels and everything were normal. I dont think I ever had my hcg checked by blood.

If you get an ultrasound depends on your insurance. They’ll do a full medical history for you both, go over do’s and dont’s, pelvic and breast exam, and possibly ultrasound. Then they’ll send you for bloodwork and the likes.
