this is my first post in this group so first I just wanna say hi ☺️

I was sexually assaulted in September of 2016. I immediately went to the hospital and got a rape kit done without reporting it to the police. In Texas, I have up to two years to decide whether or not I want to use the evidence from the rape kit. In September it will be two years, and the strongest bit of evidence I have will be destroyed if I decide not to report the crime and press charges before then. My question for the group is this, have any of y’all gone through the justice system for sexual assault before? If so, I’d love if you could share your personal experience dealing with everything. I have no idea what I want to do yet, and there are so many things I’m afraid of happening.
