Why do periods stop?

Why do pregnant women stop having periods? If your on combination BC would you stop having with-drawl bleeds as well if you fell pregnant?

You shouldn’t be on birth control if you’re pregnant... when you aren’t pregnant you shed your uterine lining every month (your period) when you are pregnant you need that uterine lining to house the embryo (baby)

You stop having periods because you’re not shedding your uterine lining. That’s why a woman bleeds during a period. The uterine lining is necessary to sustain pregnancy... if you lost that monthly, you’d miscarry. 
Birth control involves ovulation and egg release, it doesn’t drop your body from shedding its lining.
