Catheter for too long?

So I’ve been in hospital for 9 days now, I spent the first 5 in ICU. I had an asthma attack resulting in respiratory failure.

This is the first time I’ve had a catheter put in and I’ve had it for like 4/5 days now and it’s causing a lot of pain. The doctors are aware but are adamant I need it (I don’t even know why I need it anymore because I can walk now?)

Will I have problems controlling my bladder once this comes out? I think I’m developing a UTI in all honesty.
