Is it normal to not want to live anymore?

Lately, I’ve just had no desire to live. I’m 18 starting to have to pay my own bills, start college, work way more. I just don’t want to do it. I don’t want to live anymore. I couldn’t kill myself even if I really wanted to but I just don’t want to do life.  Don’t want to go to college or work for the rest of my life. I just want to slip away.

Not being interested in things that normally bring you joy is a symptom of depression...something that we all go through in life. You aren’t alone. Reach out to your friends and family, go to counseling and they can help you feel like yourself again. It’s a process, but once you work through it life will feel like it’s worth living again!

I second Annie’s opinion. If it’s possible for you to get into seeing a psychiatrist or your general care doctor please do so! I was depressed and didn’t even realize it.

starting out into adulthood is hard. it really really sucks, because you do put so much work in and forget to give yourself the time to be yourself. At that point in my life my mom left and moved cross country with my sister, I lived with my grandpa who is great, but sometimes hard to relate to an 18 year old woman. stopped eating, slept like garbage. i didn't seek help. I just felt so empty and alone. I met my now husband and he has been my rock ever since. not saying you need someone else to make you happy, just saying you should seek some help. whether that is therapy, or going out for a coffee with someone you can vent to and start a new hobby with.
