IUI, IVF or month off?

Hello! I’m about 1 week away from knowing if I’m pregnant or if I’m getting my period. I’ve done 5 rounds of clomid, 3 timed intercourse to start, then 2 IUIs. I’m trying to decide what to do next, we had our IVF consult last week and my RE basically said it’s totally up to us what we want to do. So if I’m not pregnant this time around, I’m thinking either taking a month off or trying another IUI and then starting IVF in September. Anyone else in similar situation, when did you move on??

Since you’ve only done clomid I would maybe try your next iui cycle with injections. They work faster and make bigger/more follicles. You decide if you want a break. We moved onto ivf after 2 rounds of timed intercourse with clomid and 3 iuis with Gonal-f injections and ovidrel. We have unexplained infertility and it’s frustrating but we are having a frozen transfer Monday.

I'm in the same position. our last consult the doctor told us we can do 2 more IUIs then move to IVF. I'm thinking why even do IUI if she's already thinking of IVF? I won't be doing a month off but she is changing my meds if I decide to do another IUI. There is no right decision. But in the end it will all work out.

I took a month off after my first IUI to let my body heal since my body reacts horribly to IUIs. I’m taking this current cycle off between my third and fourth IUI because we weren’t sure whether we were going to do a fourth IUI or stop. I haven’t regretted taking those cycles off and it’s given me time to let the fertility meds get out of my system so I can have some time without raging hormones. On the other hand, both times my brain has known I’m not pregnant but I feel anxious and guilty having a drink, eating sushi, cleaning the litter box, etc., because what if I am actually pregnant (despite the multiple bfns and having had my period). 
Since none of this is covered by insurance, and we have the added expense of buying sperm, we’ll be out about $10k cumulatively after the fourth IUI so we’ll stop then and not pursue ivf. The doctors aren’t sure why three medicated, timed IUIs haven’t worked, so for us it makes sense to stop if this one doesn’t get us a bfp. My wife and I said from the start that we’d only try three IUIs before moving on to adoption. Neither of us is quite ready to give up ttc yet, so we’re going to try once more. 
There’s no right or wrong decision when it comes to taking a month off or when/if to move on to ivf. Do what makes the most sense to you given your situation.

Clomid also thins your lining if you do too many rounds of it so you might want to ask to change your medicine

I never wanted to wait.  I always thought “ if I take a month off, That could have been the month I would have gotten pregnant”.
It’s totally up to you. My body wasn’t showing signs of needing to take a month off, and emotionally my husband and I needed to keep going.  
Listen you yourself, your body, and your significant other.  You’ll know quickly what you should do.
