Did breastfeeding come naturally or did it take some getting used to?

Breastfeeding is natural like walking, not natural like breathing. You both need to connect and learn together and see what works for you. Definitely was a difficult journey for me but so worth it

I don’t know anyone who just took to it without some discomfort or stress.  Both you and the baby are doing something new so it takes some practice. I think a lot of women feel stress expecting it should just happen, but there is a learning curve.

It takes two weeks for a lot of babies to figure it all out. That's how long my baby took and it was worth the wait

It was so hard for me. I saw a pp compare it to walking and I think that’s kinda perfect... it comes somewhat easily for some but it is really difficult for others. I did it and am glad I was able to give that to my child, but it was sooooo hard at the same time. I never felt the close connection many mothers speak of, and was in constant pain despite being looked at by four separate lactation consultants and two doctors.... it eventually got better, although was never enjoyable, but it took about two months, instead of the two weeks many offered as the trial period.

Definitely very hard at first. Take advantage of any support groups in your area ASAP!  They really helped me. I went to one at the hospital that is led by Lactation consultants and they really help!

Took lots of getting used to, lots of help from lactation consultants, and lots of pain. But I was determined. Still going 14 months strong.

A little of both for me. My daughter latched perfectly from the start, but I had a little discomfort the first day or maybe the first two days. My breastfeeding journey has been smooth!!! My daughter is nine months and still breastfeeding (She's taking solids also). It definitely has some challenges, but so worth it!!!

thank you everyone for your responses i guess its different for each individual and there is no right or wrong way of making sure your baby is fed. gives me a little more confidence to try breastfeeding though.

It didn’t get good for me until about 9 weeks in. Before that I had lots of pain. Lots of cracking and bleeding. My baby always LOVED nursing and that helped me keep going. We are now almost 15 months in and still going strong!

my daughter never latched. my son on the other hand latched 3 mins after coming out of me. he was in a hurry I was amazed at how he knew exactly what to do
