Gender Reveal Etiquette

Ok, so, at 11 weeks...I’m at the point of planning my gender reveal (I expect to find out in the next few weeks) but I have to ask women that have done these things before...what all actually happens at a gender reveal aside from the obvious? I don’t have a ton of local friends, so I’ve thought maybe the three of us with a photographer would do an announcement and post it, but I really want a cake reveal (I’m a cake decorator, I have a specific design in mind) and wouldn’t mind a small celebration. I know it’s not the same as a baby shower, which I’ll be having in a different state with family, but I’ve never been to one and I’ve only ever seen social media announcements and posts of party decor lol Help me out? I have no idea how to plan this thing, activities, and start to finish 😬
