ive used mirena IUD 3x only twice full five years no problems last time only year before I decided to have another Lil one. only first 3 months after insertion I had monthly period after that no periods until removed. no problems minimal weight gain, and had get strings cut couple times other than that no issues.

Had a copper coil for 1 year and it was the worst year of my life! Heavy bleeding, backache, severe pains. Always feeling like it was stabbing my insides. 
And the pain of having it put it was unbearable!!

I would never use one ovarian cyst run in my family and on the count that it could cause me to have one or have one rupture I'm not taking that chance

I have the Mirena IUD and let me tell you I did NOT like the thought of someone being all up in my hoohah but I was out of birth control options. I did not have a good experience having it put it, I was in absolute agony and I was vomiting in pain for days. That being said, I’m a one off case and even my doctor said she’d never seen anyone in that much pain before. My mother’s had about five and she goes straight to work after having it done no problem at all. I haven’t experienced any issues except for a 52 day extremely light period (like, panty liner only light) and thats about it. I haven’t gained weight, acne, be more depressed or anxious, and my migraines are better. It is SO worth it and because it’s localised hormones it’s really really uncommon to have side effects because it’s localised hormones. Good luck with yours!
