Is a beta necessary?

Do all OB’s do beta testing? I recently found out I’m pregnant and when I called they scheduled an appt for when I’m 9 weeks, so 5 weeks away. I thought they’d want to confirm the pregnancy in office or draw blood or something but that’s all I got. Should I call back? Thanks in advance!

Your pregnancy is confined by missing a period and a positive test. It’s totally normal to it be seen until 8+ weeks!

A 9 week appt is normal. They may or may not run a level test, but by 9 weeks a chemical or ectopic should rule itself out so, your care will be pretty routine. Mine doesn’t take patients until 10 weeks, in my case 12 since I went for a private scan at 7 weeks to verify a heartbeat and location. They won’t be doing my levels at the first appt.
