Shaving

Can you get any infections from shaving your lady parts? Like with shaving cream or something? If it accidentally gets inside? Sorry if it’s a dumb question. But I get scared that’ll happen or that I’ll cut myself. Any suggestions on what to use while shaving? Also what can I put on it so there won’t be any irritation/itchiness?
